I found this posted on another forum and it made me feel all warm inside.

I sincerely hope this is not a hoax. Anyone else see the Newsweek article? 340 hp, mid-engine, lightweight.........I don’t know if it gets any better. If anyone can confirm this I would appreciate it. I knew Porsche made an announcement that they had no lightweight Cayman variant in the works so this kind of surprised me.

P.S. Let me know if that link doesn't work.

This would be the car to get. Hope it is not a hoax. The only problem with this picture is "RHD" Prototype from Porsche with British license plates ????? England is the only country in europe with RHD drive cars.

That’s a nice observation. Interesting how they list in the article that the car is “in showroom-ready form". I didn't even think they had a Cayman S in "Showroom-ready form". The only hope that I saw was from the yellow Calipers on the test car that I don't think were going to be offered on the Cayman S??? We can only hope.

Cayman will probably have the same options availble as a 987 S, which include PCCB (i.e. yellow calipers).

I am very skeptical that this is real. The Cayman isn't even available to the general public yet. So I doubt Porsche will release any information about a specialized edition until a few months after the Cayman has been available.

Sorry guys. I hope I'm wrong, but I think this is a hoax. Even if I am wrong and it's not, do you think it will be brought over to the states? Also doubtful. US drivers are to sissyish!

Thanks for sharing this interesting info.

 I forgot to mention Scottland and Ireland, but it is the same island

Rumors about a Club Sport model is also going around, some people even think the cayman will replace the 911, who knows. One thing for sure the mid engine concept is superior.

Mike is probably correct, no RS or CS model will be imported to the US.

I hope to God they don't put a GT3RS tail on that thing like the one that was photochopped in there.

I think the URL "Photobucket" says it all, but we can dream can't we.

It they went ahead and put a dry-sump engine in the Caymen, would that be a great car or what??!!!

That's just what I thought when I first heard of the Cayman, Bob. Put a GT3 engine in that thing and sell it for a little less than the Carrera and even I would consider a waterpumper.

Martin,

Ireland is a separate island, Scotland is attached to England (although it's against their will).

Of course this is off the subject of the Cayman - that thing if actually produced would howl!
