Cool Shirt question

I just used my new Cool Shirt for the first time this week-end. Definitely worth the price of admission!!
I was looking at the instructions which say: "to prevent algae growth, once a month add 8 oz. of rubbing alcohol to cooler with water and circulate through hose and shirt".
Does anyone do this???
Has anyone had an algae issue (with the Cool Shirt, that is)?
Thanks
JP

I've never done that but I have the drainage kit and just drain the water from all the tubes whenever I can.

I have not had a problem with it that I can tell. You on the other hand, being from the NW and a sailor at that, would have mucho trouble with algae! So I would go by the instructions if I were you. Good finish John! My wife said if you ever ask for a brownie again, no need to tell you where it wil end up! :beerchug:

The coolsuits will start growing stuff in the water. You can try to drain the water out completely?
I just add some bleach and cycle the system for a few minutes.

If you want to purge the hoses, you can very gently blow compressed air through one end of the fitting on the shirt while pressing the other hose end against something solid (so the system is open). Does not hurt to do this every so often anyway as junk in the ice and water can plug the hoses in the shirt. I put a piece of figerglass screen around the intake on the pump to help keep junk out. You can also easily blow air through the hoses to the ice chest. I use a rubber tipped blower which works pretty well.
