Exotic car rental at the stadium

Postby Tim Comeau on Thu Sep 01, 2005 6:53 pm

Want to experience a 997S? A new Boxster S? There's a company called San Diego Prestige that is renting out exotics to drive at the stadium. I helped them with track design and set up last Tuesday and I hung out with them all day. This is a really neat idea. You show up and experience cars like the newest Porsches, Ferrari 355, 360 Modena F1, Maserati, Mercedes SL55, Lamborghini, etc. for about $50 for 5 minutes of track time. Where else can you get a chance to drive these kinds of cars ever?!
I fell in love with the AMG SL55. What silky power that car has. They don't want you to get them sideways, but drive them briskly. Enjoy the exhaust note.
I'll be there all day Sunday helping them again (in between laps in the 997S). Come say, "Hi." :D

Hey Tim,

Do you have any contact info or details on the event? Is it open to the public?

Thanks,

I didn't see any times listed for the Arrive-And-Drive on September 4th. Anyone know?

Kary, You don't have to get them sideways to have fun. Seriously. I just drove them briskly and found enjoyment abounding. Drive them like you would your own car in the mountains. Not too wild, staying in your lane, not getting sideways.
The track should be ready to go around 10 am. You can drive your own car. Thanks for the website posting James! :D
I would drive the Ferrari 360 F1 Modena with the paddle shifters!

Well, you guys missed a good time on a fun course....the 924 wasn't up to the task, but a spare E36 BMW was dug up on street tires and was running around the same times as Tim in his Spec car....top speeds of 90mph, tough braking zones. Looks like San Diego Prestige will be a good outfit to run with if you need track time for littl $$, and no work assignments (just volunteer to pick up the course, to be nice).

And don't get Tim involved in a political or religious conversation :D

That was funny, James! But it is all Bush's fault!
Anyway, back to the fun stuff. I drove the 360 F1 Modena with the paddle shifters. YOU NEED TO DO THIS. It takes some getting used to, but it's really cool.
I was forced to drive the Ferrari 355 convertible back to their shop in La Jolla at the end of the day (they run past 5:00 pm). I'm not sure but I think the chicks were diggin' Timmy in the fly yellow Ferrari.......
I want to use these events for testing my Porsches and additional instruction time. 2 PCA'ers came down and drove their own cars around. John in his 968 and Michael in his 944 turbo.
Fun. www.sandiegoprestige.com Next event is this Friday starting at noon.

Jackie L. and Steve G.,
We've been able to swing a change in the parking lots from the North East to the much better South East lot. Come down right about noon today. It shouldn't take much to scrub those tires in, Jackie!

TC great post! I'm planning one of their corporate tours for my department during the Holidays (just to be politically correct with you :D ). Much more value than Ruth's Chris or another meat locker  . And you don't have to drink to have FUN (or enjoy the (C)company) Think of the choices: Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo....which one do you want to sit on, I mean in! 8)
