Electric Seat

Postby Brett Souza on Fri Oct 07, 2005 11:37 am

My driver seat doesn't want to move. The left side will not turn the large screw that moves the seat back and forth along the rail. The right side (of the left front seat) seems to be working fine. It will move up & down and will recline too. Only seems like the front/back control on the left front seat won't work.

Of coarse, I'm suppose to go to the PDS this weekend, and right now the seat is all the way forward and I can't even get into it :banghead:

There isn't anything obstructing the track.

It's not a fuse either.

The seat cable is broken!
One of the two black tubes running from center to each side.
Check dealers and independent shops to see if they have one in stock.

Also most speedo shops can make one up by using the good one as a sample.

PS- Don't leave the seat in the full forward or back position, as they will stick.

Steve,

Thanks for the reply.

Is there anyway I can double check to make sure it's the cable?

I only ask, because you also caution against leaving the seat all of the way forward or back, and it was left all the way forward for the last couple of days while my GF drove it.

Would that be the part number I'm looking for?

Glad that number is written down. I didn't put the clip back on right and stripped the cable (again)

I just pulled the seat out, and now I am debating on replacing the cable and fixing it right, or buying new seats to get more head room.

I found these on ebay. Any body have any experience with either the seats or the seller?

I would recommend to install either OEM Porsche seats or real bucket race seats like Recaro, Sparco, Momo with a fiberglass or carbon shell (NO tube frame) in your car.

This may be just me, but I think race bucket seats with fiberglass shell are very comfortable. I use them for everyday driving.

Thanks for your input.

My challenge is that I'm a big ol' corn bread eatin' puddin' and I need both the increased headroom and a wide seat for my arse. It is compounded by the problem that I want it to remain adjustable.

Add to that, I've found that the only way to fully enjoy and appreciate what my Porsche can do, is to Auto-X it or get it on a track. Which leads to the next question, how far to go with my mods? Harness bar vs full roll cage. Chips/exhaust. Suspension. Wheels/tires. Blah, blah, blah...

Where does the madness end?
