Anyone parting a 1986 944 NA?

Postby TheStig on Thu Oct 13, 2005 8:05 am

Is anyone in PCA parting out a 1985.5-1988 944 8v naturally aspirated? My cooling fan switch wiring harness has failed indefinitely on my '86 944. The cooling fans can only come on at the low speed and no longer high speed. I am in need of a used wiring harness that connects to the fan switch on the upper driver side of the radiator. To have some room to splice this fan switch into the factory wiring harness, I need about 4-6" of wire coming from the fan switch harness plug.

If anyone has a 944 that is permanently disabled, but this harness is intact, please contact me immediately. Thanks.

Andy:

Sounds like you might do best to go to a wrecking yard like Parts Heaven or Autobahn for a harness. I know Autobahn has a couple of 944's there right now.

Good luck!

Hey Dan guess what the harness wasn't the problem. Weird. For some reason my passenger side cooling fan keeps blowing its fuse. Other Porsche owners tell me the fan may be drawing too much current, therefore symptoms of potential failure. I'm gonna keep an eye on it for a couple of days and see if it blows the fuse again. I'm also going to check the grounding points. I hear there is one between cylinders 1&2. Can anyone confirm this?
