Can anyone recomend a really good machine shop in the SD area, preferably one that is knowledgable with Porsches?

Mike-

You might try Motor Works--they used to be on Island Ave., but moved down to Natl. City during the Petco Park redevelopment, I think. They're in the phone book now as at:
1625 Coolidge Ave., National City
(619) 233-8875 and 327-0200

I haven't been to their new place, but they used to do a lot of VW and Porsche machining, and I think Steve G. at Dieter's still uses them for machine work, as I believe he sent them an aluminum hub off my LeGrand to be drilled and Time-certed recently.

They recently welded up a transmission case for me as well as check out my crank and rods. They also have a neat technique for putting liners in 944s.
