:?: Any recommendations on tire pressures for autocross? Using 17 inch wheels with Falken Azenis Sport tires.

Hi Mike,
I have found that using the recommended pressures + 2 lbs. front and +1 lb. rear works best for me. I usually run 31 lbs. front, 37 lbs. rear on my Boxster with 17" tires (vs. 29/36 standard). I have tried pressures between standard and all the way up to 40 lbs. (COLD) on front and rear, and found the most consistent handling at just a little above the recommended pressures.

Yes, I know I should be checking the tire temps with a pyrometer, but these seem to work for me.

What about a Boxster S running 18" rims? What's good pressures for that, running in the street and running an autoX?

You're going to find that tire pressures are very dependent. Dependent on the cars weight, your weight, how hard you are pushing the tires, the suspension setup, etc, etc... As Kim suggested starting with Porsche's recommended pressure plus a pound or two is a good place to start. After a few run sessions check the wear and adjust accordingly. With some practice you will learn what adding a pound here and removing a half pound there will do to the feel of the car and tread-wear.
