I purchased a "911 front suspension" and recently tried to change out the front torsion bars. The existing bars had 29 splines and the replacement units had 30. Any ideas what I got? The Performance Products catalogue lists the same PN for 65-89.

You have a 914-4 front suspension, looks the same but isn't.

Does the bar you pulled out have a diameter of about 17.3 mm?

PP has the bars you want for a 914 but you would be better off using a 911 front end as there are lots of 911 bars floating around and virtually no 914's.

914-6 and 911 front end is the same, 914 is different.

I guess I have to be more careful at swap meets! Apparently I replaced a 914/6 front suspension with a 914/4! Guess I better dig up the 914/6 one and put on the vented brakes/Boge shocks I got with the 914/4. Thanks Steve.
