This would seem to be a common question but I didn't see it addressed specifically on the forums I searched. I have a standard 1990 C2 with 6" front rims and 8" rear, both evidently have 52mm offset as indicated by the mark on the rims.
First question, keeping the same rims I think I should be able to move up tire sizes from 205/50 to 225/45 on the front and from 225/50 to 245/45 on the rear. I show this lowering the front of the car not quite an inch while the rear is barely lowered -- which is good because I think it looks low in the rear with the stock profile. The new sizes would be about .8 inches wider than stock, would they fit?
Second question, if I was to get new rims do I need to use the same offset which would then push the excess rim width farther outward or can I go with a little additional offset without rubbing anything and then maybe not put as much rubber outside the fenderwell?
Anybody have experience with this?
Thanks,
