Heat cycles for shaved RA-1s....

How many heat cycles are they good for. I have run one set for all of the TT events this year. I am pretty easy on tires, so they have plenty of tread left. Is there a finite number of heat cycles that the Toyos will take. The grip seems to have remained fairly constant as long as I monitor the hot pressure. Thoughts...

I find they stay good, but are only near optimal for about 30-40 cycles. After that, they seem to lose about 1 second, then 2 seconds as the center grove totally disappears.

PS. That is for my car which is well balance and I can rotate the tires. Your 911 will tend to eat rears as you know, so you mileage may vary....

Thanks, Jad. I actually got a great deal on two sets, so it looks like I'm set for quite a while.

4est, What size RA1s are you running on your C4S? I was looking into this and didn't think they made sizes that would work for the the car.

245/40 and 305/35. They're mounted on 996 turbo offset wheels, and they don't rub. No fender rolling required. 996 turbo wheels are readily available compared to 993 TT. The 2S rear offset is different than the 4S, though, so you will have play with rear offset.

Sounds like that will work. I didn't think of going with that wide of tires. Good to hear that they don't rub or require fender rolling. I just need the correct offsets on some new wheels.

thanks!
