Trim and Washing

Postby mhknapp on Tue Apr 18, 2006 3:01 pm

Now I know why not to use a wash mitt with lots of loops. Snagged the end of my Boxster trim piece on the trunk and broke it. I know how it's "supposed" to be removed, dental floss or fishing line, but I know there will be a glue residue, what do I use to remove the residue?

Thanks

3M makes an adhesive remover that is very effective and won't hurt the paint. It is mostly naptha. There are other adhesive removers like "Goof Off" that will do the job. Surprisingly, WD-40 will also work, as it has a high kerosene content, I believe.

Thanks
Have a supply of Goo Be Gone and WD-40, will give those a try. Don't think I'll bother putting one back on for awhile

Appreciate the help

If you need the emblem, I have a spare that was removed. You would need new double-stick tape (3M Molding Tape) to affix it, but the emblem itself is perfect. Call me at 760-737-8971.

Thanks Larry, haven't decided, but will probably leave it off (less chance for me to damage something ;-])
