Odyssey "racing" battery

Hi Jad:

Heard you were very fast at Spring Mountain. No surprise there.

I am writing to you because the little "racing" battery I have in my car (believe Interstate) has died and I had heard good things about the Odyssey batteries. Understand they have a model that is very appropriate for our racing purposes, light but adequate for the job and believe you have that battery in your car. If so and if you can recommend it, can you give me the model number and where would it be best to buy it? Any recommendations or caveats regarding installation?

Opinions from others will also be very welcomed.

Yes, I do and it has worked fine. Saved about 15 lbs as I recall. I think they only have 1 model that is really appropriate for our application, but won't have time for a couple of days to go through the files and find that model number. You can order their hold down system or develop one of your own like I did. I think mine is a better system and saved $30 or so.

Just search on the internet for best pricing, as I recall it was about $120 but varied 20-30% from place to place. That was about a year ago.

I bought the PC925MJT which is a bit bigger and 10 lbs. heavier, but it was shipped quickly and arrived in 2 days. The 680 is big enough for starting any race car and is easier to fit in compact spaces.

I picked up a PC680 at American Battery in Escondido for $109 + $15 for the SAE terminals. I checked a lot of other local places and no one (even AJR) had them in stock or carried them.

Just for a point of reference. What is the difference between the PC-680MJ and the PC-680. I have looked at the spec's granted not to hard but can't seem to find a reference to the difference except $10. The 680 MJ is listed at $95 and the 680 at $85.

The "MJ" is for "Metal Jacketed." It is more resistent to the vibration stresses and impacts that may occur in a racing application.
