PCA SDR

I recently had Speedzone, In Santee, do the work on my Boxster after a little damage to the right side.

Brad, (Owner) took excellent care of my car and I can't say enough.

If anybody is looking for a place to have any work done, (and done right) I'd highly recommend Speedzone.

PCA member Mark Tyler at Qualtech Race Paint on Alvarado Canyon Road in San Diego is doing a complete strip and repaint of my 914/6. The car is fantastic! Consider him also. He has several other PCA member's cars in there right now. 619/2816024

Any other good body shop recommendation?

I need a place which does a good job restoring my Boxter's rear end as new.

Yesterday evening a worker truck rear ended my Boxster in downtown SD as I was being a sitting duck waiting at a read light.

The damage doesn't look bad from far, but the bumper doesn't look good, the truck lid and the soft top mecanism moved a bit forward on the passengger side, the wing is stuck and one of the rear light is broken.

Jack Orr's Auto Body in La Mesa has been around a long time and they seem to always have a few exotics in the shop. (619) 469-1216

+1. Mark does great work. There's also Phil Thearle's in Santee. He's been doing PCASDR cars for years with very good success/results. I'd call Mark first.

Don't know about the above shops, but Philip Thearles Autowerks is NOT a place I would take it. Mine was there four times, each time longer than promised and it is still not right.

Wow. Sorry to hear that! I guess Mark Tyler is my only recommendation.

Martin: how's the truck-guy's insurance? You can always go for broke (his "broke" not yours) and take it to West Coast Specialties. They do heaps of work for the dealerships, and I've seen lots of high-end German cars there. Glenn Marlin might have some input about them? They're over in Miramar, near the 'pyramid.'

Concur on the West Coast Specialties recommendation. I have had major (and minor) work done on several cars there (including the Boxster - they did the repair after the off-track excursion at the Q) and the work is always PERFECT. Sometimes they are a little slow in getting it done, but the wait is worth it.
Their rates are competitive, and AAA has had no problems with their estimates.
West Coast is where Pioneer sends cars needing bodywork.

I have not had body work done in some time (knock on wood!), but when my Audi TT and my wife's Audi A6 were damaged, we were extremely satisfied with Amato's, in Sorrento Valley. I believe we used them on 4 separate occasions, and always had a wonderful experience. Twice they even fought the insurance company's attempts to shortcut the correct repair.

I have no idea if they are still around, but if/when any of my cars need body work, they will get a call.

Amato's is still there. They definitely specialize in HIGH end repairs. If you bring a smaller dent, they will just subcontract the work out. I was not very happy with them when I took a large ding on a 944 there. They seemed completely uninterested in working on such a car. Most of their work based on the storage yard I pass often is Ferrari, BMW, MB involved in major accidents.

I have not actually dealt with them, just got the one estimate. I would certainly consider them for major work.
