911S Interior light electrical lines

Postby helgeseg on Thu Dec 28, 2006 5:06 pm

The electrical power and ground lines that feed the lights over the doors is missing from my '77 911S. It appears that it is suposed to run from the trunk up the passenger side frame next to the windshield.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can run new elec. lines up to the light?

Thanks,
Erik

Erik,

I am not sure if you have no power or the wires are actually missing?
If you think they are missing pull the interior lights out and get a dental mirror and search for them.
You want to find them!

If not...

Fuse 18 powers the clock and interior lights. Count from the front of the car #1 to the back #18.
It is a white 8a fuse
If the clock works you have power.
From the fuse box, a black wire goes to the RF hood shock area.
That is where the junction is for this circuit can be found. It goes to the clock, the glove box light and the front trunk light.
You will also see a small harness with a black and brown wire in it that heads off to the lower right corner of the windshield. That is your interior light harness.
It goes up the windshield frame post to the lights.
Running a wire up there with the headliner in place is virtually impossible...
Let me know if this helps.

Steve,
Well the "...virtually impossible..." part helps  . The wire going up the winshield frame post is the one that is missing. I discovered it whent tracing the harness and wiring in the trunk light, it was still part of the harness but looked like it was cut short.

Any ideas on how to get power and door switch ground up there? I noticed that the sun roof motor wires head back tward the engine compartment on the drivers side, any chance of using that path to run the interior light wires? If so, I could run the door switch via the center tunnel.

Let me know what you think,
Thanks,
Erik

I would try running a fish wire from the interior light location down the window frame into the trunk.
