Where to get rubber put on my wheels

Now that I have just bought RA1's, I need a place to install them. I have the wheels off the car, all I need is a mount and balance. I am even taking my old rubber home. I'm getting stupid quotes like 25- 30 bucks a tire. All I want is cheap and a good balance. Any suggestions?

Import tire downtown. The place is a little scary, but good work at a great price. A lot of people in the club use them.

I'll second that. Don and Joe are good guys. Corner of 13th and F downtown.
I drop my loose wheels and tires off and come back in a couple of hours, usually, and they're done. I think the FNG price is about $10/wheel for mount and balance, but the more you go there, the cheaper it gets (if they like you).

Yep, the best guys in town. Just got another good deal from them. Slip them cash, and a case of Dr. Pepper ... you'll make friends quick.

Kim,
Thats funny. Some one with entirely too much time on thier hands came up with that one. I actually prefer to get dirty when I "work" on the "car".

George, you mentioned wheelstores.com in another thread. I'm in North County and don't want to drive downtown for tire swaps. I called wheelstores and they quoted a low "racer's discount" price for mount/balance. Any good/bad experience with these guys?

fyi I had a good experiance with the Discount tire mobile service.
They matched tire rack prices, mount and balance $10 per tire and did it all at my house.
Good service and prices.

I used the Discount mobile service once as well. It was very handy, but they did charge ~$20 per tire for mount and balance as I recall, plus they do charge tax unlike most of the internet tire places when ordering tires. Otherwise, it was great.

Peter,
I actually enjoyed the wheelstore.com store in Oceanside. The man who helped me behind the counter was very helpful and we talked about cars for 20 minutes. It is an enthusiastic shop. The guys there race, some track, some drag.
They probably have a lot of capability that no one knows about. For example while I was there, I saw a set of new shaved mounted 710's, a miata race car in on the showroom floor, a race bike, safety gear, custom wheels, and stocked tires. I didn't go back to see the stalls but they do have lifts.
I didn't use them to mount since I didn't think I could get all four mounted wheels in the car plus take home my used rubber so I didn't ask for a quote. I live near mission bay so I won't be driving up. Give them a try for sure.

Why would you shave a V710? Kumho recommends shaving the Victoracer and Ecsta V700 for dry track use, but the Kumho specs for the V710 say: "Beginning with a tread depth of 4/32-inch, they will not require shaving."

Tom,
My bad. They were Kuhmo somethings. I don't actually remember which ones.
Thanks for everyones help on this thread! I'm going to have my tires mounted at the downtown place at 13th and F.
