914-6 Tach with MSD Ignition

Just installed MSD igniton on my 914-6. I remember hearing a long time ago that the tach needs to be modified to work with the MSD. If I remember right a place called Hollywood Speedo can do the mod.

I already tried using the MSD 8910 tach adapter, didn't work, called MSD about it, they didn't have any answers either.

Anyone know about the mod and Hollywood Speedo, tried a search on the net, didn't find them, but I could have the name wrong, it's been a long time since I heard about that.

Thanks, Don

Don,
Which MSD are you using?
MSD6AL I hope?

Yes, 6al.

Thanks for the website, I'll give them a call tomorrow.

I have a tach out of a 75 914, hooked it up and it worked, too bad it's for a 4 cyl. I also remembered someone back then saying the 73 and up tachs were compatable with the MSD series.

Thanks, appreciate the help.

Don

Don,

Try Foreign Speedometer in San Diego.
(619) 298-5278

They do some work for us and know Porsches.
NH speedo is great just not local and not cheap.
All he has to do is change the sensitivity of the tach.
You should be up and running in a day or two.
