997 seat removal

Postby RETII on Fri May 04, 2007 12:13 pm

Anyone out there pulled a passenger seat(NOT adaptive)out of a 997? I need to install a fire extinguisher bracket but don't really want to muck up the seat or interior of the car. Thanks, Ralph

I don't have the answer you are looking for, but I am curious as to whether you are using the factory part, or something after market like Brey-Krause?

Seat removal

Postby RETII on Fri May 04, 2007 7:20 pm

Does anyone know if it takes a special tool to remove bolts that hold the seat rail down or will a 12pt metric socket do? Also torque values for reinstalling those bolts? Thanks

I have taken seats out of 944's, 964's and 996's with no special tools or any issues. Two bolts in the front and 4 in the back. You probably just need to remove the front two to install the bracket, but I can't give you any insight into the 997, though I doubt it is any different. Torque was very snug, about 60-70 lbs, but that is just me.
