Local wheel repair?

Postby Irksome on Sun May 13, 2007 9:01 pm

My (new to me) 18" Carrera III wheels have one section of curb rash, about 1.5" long. I posted on Rennlist, and got a reference to a DIY procedure that is a bit beyond me. So...

Does anyone know of a good shop locally that can do a curb rash repair? Looks like it involves cleaning, putty, sanding, primer, paint, and clear coat.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

Velvet Touch (760) 846-0942. They advertise in the Windblown Witness. They will come out and pick your wheel up and drop it back off. Most of the dealers in North County use them and they service county wide. good luck

U S Wheel Repair
1000 W Bradley Ave # Q
El Cajon, CA 92020
(619) 596-8033

They did my 4 bolt Fuchs for $75 each and did a wonderful job. They cleaned the backside, removed the curb rash, and fully polished the fronts.

+1 for US Wheel Remanufacturing.

They recently resealed a leaking 3-piece wheel for cheap.

I plan to take them some wheels with "track" rash for refinishing soon, I just haven't gotten around to it.
