Mixture screw/bolt missing

Postby helgeseg on Thu Jun 21, 2007 7:16 pm

I recently installed a 3.2 motor in a '77 911S chassis. It's never run really well, so recently I bought a Gastester CO meter to check the mixture. I found that the CO was up around 5%, way over the .8 - 1% it is supposed to be. So I tried to adjust the mixture via the allen bolt on the Air Flow Sensor and found that the bolt was missing. Does anyone know where I can get one (a negative from Pioneer)? Also, once I do get one, is there a trick to installing it?

Thanks,
Erik

Eric,
I might have one from and old unit (That is not an available spare part)
But that will only make your problem worse.
A missing C.O. by-pass screw makes the engine run very lean, not rich.
You have another problem.
When that screw is put all the way in you should have 3-4% C.O.
What is your mixture at 2500 RPM?

Steve,
Thanks for looking, in any case I'll need the screw. I should have time tomarrow to check the CO at 2500, I'll let you know.
