Let's see rust on a 914...
Front suspension & rear suspension pick-ups and battery tray... Oh and windshield frame... Oh ya, and the rockers especially around the jack points.. and the floor under the pedal assembly... and the rear trunk floor... ( I know I forgot some spots but that's a start)

Good 914's are really hard to find anymore. I would suggest buying a car that has all the major stuff already done if you want a 914. I have had front engined 4-cylinder people drive my 914 racecar and it wasn't a positive experience for all. I love it but some find them to be "a little too responsive"

Ride the right seat with people at AX and do your own research.

Ah ... I would probably love it, then ... spent thirty years flying Alaska bush tail wheeled aircraft ... learned to always expect quick moves :-)

Great advice, Steve ... and I definitely will follow it!

As Steve told you, find a nice car and pay the extra $$ up front. You will always regret saving money and purchasing anything with rust. I get customers all the time that pickup projects, and they will sink 2x what they paid for the car to repair the rust.
