In section III of the driving rules:

X. Removal or alteration of windshield - 6 points

Literally interpreting the word "alteration" would include changing the OEM glass for some other material (e.g. Lexan). However, the reduced weight will incur points under paragraph R, and should not be doubly penalized.

Is the intended interpretation of "alteration" really aero related, e.g. a chopped or laid back windshield?

Yes it refers to aero changes...
But your point is well taken and maybe some clearer wording could be installed for the next round of rules proposals.

So Lexan windshields are no extra points...

Does anybody want to let the secret out and let me know how much weight saving there is by replacing the rear window with Lexan glass? (I will eventually figure it out anyways)

About 2 lbs or 45 lbs, depending on who you ask.

I'll tell you the 911 window will only save you 2 lbs because I don't want you to take it out. The replacement saleman will tell you 45 lbs because he wants you to buy one. I'm sure it's somewhere in between. I'm sure a Google or Rennlist search will tell the real answer...

It is about 15-20 lbs. The variations result in how it is installed. A nice installation with seals, supports and good hardware with solid lexan weighs significantly more than a thin piece of lexan screwed over the hole.

Thus you decide if you want it to look good and seal or be really light.
