Are aftermarket three point seat belts acceptable to replace out of date factory belts provided they have the federal approval info on them? They are marketed as for my car and will use the factory attachment points.

You need to ask the Zone 8 rules chair and give him better detail

Below is my question to the Region 8 rules chair and Tom Browns reply. (A set of drivers and passengers belts are $104, shipping included.) Thanks Tom for the quick response!
My Question:
I need to replace my factory 3 point seatbelts in my 1988 944S as they are now out of compliance with our rules. I have found replacement 3 point belts marketed for my car here: http://www.thepartsbin.com/catalog/?N=9 ... ,year:1988),AND(universal:1))&Vi=1698+11562+4294966992&y=1988&mk=Porsche&md=944 (hopefully the link will work)

They state they are federally approved and have the cloth date tab on them. The belts will use the stock attachment points. Is this in compliance with zone 8 rules or must I find OEM parts somewhere (for 3 times the cost, I've heard)... Thanks for your help Leigh Rayner

The Reply:
As long as they are Federally approved for your car, that's all that matters thanks tb

I have ordered a set of these three point belts, so if you are using stock seats and staying with stock belts, I can be the guinea pig on this solution and will post here as soon as I've received them- Leigh

The belts I ordered yesterday came today! They will work o.k. but I think I'd go with something from this site instead if I were to do it over http://wescoperformance.stores.yahoo.net/resebe.html

The only problem with what I got is cosmetic- the receiver end doesn't look the same because it is a cable stlye instead of the webbed belt...
