Steering Wheel Quick release

I just bought and installed a quick release mechanism for my 944 steering wheel. I thought that it would make it easier to get in and out of my race seats.
The only problem is that the wheel feels way too close to me. Is this how it is supposed to feel? What are the benefits of a steering wheel release?
Can I have a show of hands who actually use them?

I have/use them. For 3030 (Momo), there are two different depths of the Porsche hub adapter. If that's what you're using, maybe the thinner one would help.

We use one (2) on Hector Wilbur's silver 911SC. He is almost a foot taller than I am so we have one hub and two wheels with different offset. It is also nice to remove when you load the car on a trailer and fill the interior with all your stuff. Makes the driver seat fit a tire when the steering wheel is missing.
Yes, they do have some play.

We have one one the Spec and just got one for the Turbo. Each has a different offset on the wheel as well as different adaptors used. Much of it depends on where you like to sit and if your roll cage makes you sit back farther or, like Steve, if there are two drivers of different heights.

I'm looking for the shortest one out there to fit a Momo. Any ideas?

I think it will be easier to find a smaller extention for the wheel.

"Robust"....I like that.
And I think it's 7 pounds for 1 HP....So the diet starts. I got to lose some "lbs" to stay in the top 10 for the next time I run. You guys are getting really fast.
I got it...I'll take out my 5 point, drop a frew pounds and run just a lap belt!

I need to lose about 15 lbs. That's 2 hp in the 944. In a 944 any extra counts.
