PCASDR Tech Inspection School

Postby Steve Grosekemper on Wed Feb 13, 2008 2:38 pm

That's right, it's been 5 years since we last did a Tech Inspection school and with all the rule changes and car changes I thought it was time again.

Here is the event information:
http://www.pcasdr.org/img/2008/Calendar ... .2-doc.pdf
Date: Saturday March 15th
Time: 10:30a-2:30P
Place: Dieter’s Porsche & B.M.W. Service - 1633 Market Street S.D. 92101

What is a Tech Inspection school?
We get together and share years of tech inspection experience. We look at how to inspect cars for driving events and knowing what all those rules and regulations mean.

Who is invited to the school?
Well, if you are a regular AX or TT participant and are technically inclined we are looking for you to attend. We are especially interested in drivers who are not in the red run group as most of our current inspectors are. This will make things easier for the corner working chairs as working tech qualifies for your event work duty. (If you work tech you usually don’t work corners)

What do I get out of signing up for the school?
Other than increased knowledge and a sense of camaraderie with like-minded techies you will come away with some really cool swag.
Students will receive a booklet with Zone-8 rules and detailed information about the inspection process. There will also be really cool event shirts and top quality lunch served.

Do I just show up?
No, because of printing booklets & shirts as well as the amount of food we need we must have a head count. So for anyone interested in attending the school we ask that you sign up by February 20, 2008.
Send a message to tech@pcasdr.org with your confirmation and t-shirt size.

Thanks and I will see you there.

You don't want to miss this event, if for nothing else other than the food.
We'd like to thank Mexi-Cocina Restaurant & Tequileria, who has signed on as the "Official" SDR tech school eatery!

I need to get food and T-shirt totals in ASAP to make sure we have enough for everyone.

So don't hesitate.
RSVP at Tech@pcasdr.org with your t-shirt size.

Thanks again,

The response to the school has been overwhelming and we are expecting over 50+ students opposed to the 30 we had at the last Tech Inspection School. Therefore, there will be a few changes to our program.

First of all the school starts at 10:30am so feel free to come a little early for prime secure parking. There will be about 30 secure parking spots in the gated lots behind Dieters and our neighbor Alden Farris Collision shop. Show up late and park on the street. Alden Farris is graciously allowing us to use their parking as well. Here is a direction map to Dieters. The shop is located in downtown San Diego near the 5 and 94.

http://www.dietersmotorsports.com/directions.html

There are gates to access these lots on 16th and 17th streets just south of Market Street. They will also be marked with PCA banners. These gates will be closed at 10:30 when the school starts or when they fill up.

Early sign up students will get a course outline booklet, pen, and Tech T-shirt. Others can request booklets after the event as these will have answers to most of your questions.

The school will be broken up into two parts; a morning instruction session followed by a hands on and Q&A session following lunch. We will wrap things up by 2:30 or earlier.

We look forward to everyone having a great time and getting all their questions answered.

I have been getting lots of people calling today thinking this is a open tech session... It is not, you must have registered to attend. It is intended to teach current AX/DE/TT drivers how to volunteer for tech inspection.

I had the pleasure of attending the Tech training session. It was very well done, Steve made it an enjoyable and learing event.

Lunch from Mexi-Cocina Restaurant & Tequileria didn't hurt either. :D

Thank you Steve

Tech school

Postby Rsylvestri on Tue Mar 18, 2008 8:48 pm

Thanks again Steve and all involved with the tech school.
I'll be @ Cal. Festival of Speed arriving Thursday eve and wondered if there was a need for help in Tech.for the TT or even the AX on Sat?
I'll send Neil H. a note, I didn't know if this was taken care of by the zone 8 techies.

Is there an autox at Fontana this year? I couldn't find anything about that on the Zone 8 site. It's not mentioned in the CFOS webpages anywhere I can find and not on the Zone 8 autox schedule page. :?:

I am glad so many enjoyed the school.
JMC motorsports and Mexi-cocina really stepped up for sponsorship and the help I received from Katina and especially Tami Ibbetson was essential in the school going off as well as it did.
Thanks to everyone who helped.

Not likely... The event is an incredible amount of work to put on. The last one was in 2003.
But for those who want volunteer for tech inspections in the future we have the booklets in electronic form. But considering the 50+ turn out I think we are good for inspectors for now.
