fuel in oil---(944)

Postby elcap00 on Mon Jul 28, 2008 9:07 am

I changed my oil for the DE and when I popped the drain plug it gave me a very strong fuel odor.

I smelled the oil and it was like sniffing a gas can.

I put new oil in and at the DE I took my oil cap off and smelled it-------after 36 DE miles it again had a very strong fuel smell.

Any ideas>?

Too much fuel is entering the engine.
It could be several issues, some more complex than others.
I would pull the vacuum lines off the fuel regulator and dampener and activate the fuel pump.
If fuel squirts out you found the problem.

Don't forget to have the engine cool when doing this and have a fire extinguisher handy.
