2 points for 200 tread wear???

Postby Kim Crosser on Fri Aug 01, 2008 7:38 pm

Our latest Registration/Tech form says that 200 tread wear and below is now 2 (or 4?) points.
I can't find that anywhere in the Zone 8 Competition Rules. In previous years this was 1 point, and I had heard that it went away, but now it is back and at twice the penalty?
Is there a stealth rule that I cannot find? 8)
Luckily, those are my only 2 points, so I am still in LS/S, but now I can go hunt down my competitors who thought they had a point or two to spare on suspension parts...

Kim-

The 200 is a misprint on that line, a holdover from last year when 140-200 was 1 point. If you follow the asterisk to 1B on the next page, you will see that the current rule is treadwear of 50-139 = 2 points and <49 = 4 points. 140 treadwear and greater is 0 points this year.

Yep - I knew the form was wrong. This was just a post to note that the form needs to be fixed.

Great!!! Now the form is correct but we can't fill in the fields. We have to print it out and write in with a pen. So now we're correct on the printed tire ratings but the useability of the form just became more difficult.

So, if running a tire with <140 treadwear is 2 points, can we subtract 2 points for using ultra hard tires, like the 440 treadwear rocks I just put on my daughter's camry?
Perhaps then the "lost" 2 points could be recovered by pouring in nitro or...
