Full on pain. Did it this weekend, but am glad everything has been removed (blower, AC). If you have a street 993 and need new plugs and/or wires, call Jae or Steve and pay them whatever they ask...

Yes it's a real pain even without the AC and blower, I went thru this exercise not too long ago. Maybe with a little practice it can get easier :D

I agree. On my 964, I started and gave up early once I realized the first step of many was to completely remove the exhaust system. On the 996 racecar, it is very easy. On the street 996, it is 5/6ths easy. The last one on the passenger side required some swearing and blood, but way better than the 993/964. Of course, the 944S2/968 is the best. 4 plugs right on the top of the engine. Gotta love that.....

Forrest, it took me three different days
The easiest 6 plugs one day 2hrs, 5 more a week later 4hrs and the last sob behind the power steering which I lost the plug once 3.5 hrs :banghead:

On the track car all 6 in an hour :beerchug:

Rick, I've got you beat.
I put my car up on stands on July 3rd, it didn't come back down until the 10th :( .

i got a little carried away with, may-as-well-do-this-while-i'm-in-there, and i had to deal with a slight problem of incorrect wire lengths from the vendor....................... grrrrrrrr.

i thought the most difficult part was threading the wires under the Varioram and then screwing in the looms to the fan cover.
I did #6I last and had learned most of the extension / wobble socket science by then, so it was no big deal.

Forrest, did my suggestion to use a bit of "astroglide" work out for you? :)

Rather than astroglide, I tried Miller Lite, and that seemed to help a lot. Finally, I lowered the engine as far as I dared and could almost see what I was doing. I am glad I started there; the rest of the plugs and half of the wires took less time than that one plug. I ran out of daylight, but will be able to get the other wires in place in about an hour (I believe).

Jury is still out on if I'll make it. I should know this week. Rick, stop by the house anytime to see the full-on mess I have made of my beautiful car: one look and you are liable to just punch me in the face :D
