Externally adjustable Koni available?

I want to upgrade the front struts on my '71 911 to a strut that has the pin type ball joint clamp and one that has 3.5" caliper spacing AND one that I can RAISE the spindle and use externally adjutable shocks.
A Koni strut from a '72 or newer seems to fit the bill.
Problem is I can't find any externally adjustable shock inserts listed anywhere. Are these NLA?

Thanks all. Koni's web site does not have externally adjustable or sport shocks listed. Only classics and "gas" sports. Maybe if I new the part number?

O.K. after some more searching it appears that Koni used the same insert in their 911 struts from 69 to 74. Externally adjustable inserts for those years seem to be NLA. There is an externally adjustable sport shock listed for 911s 75 to 89 with Koni struts. It appears I'll have to look for the newer style struts.

Koni makes generic racing strut inserts and I installed them in my 914/6's 'S' struts 250 years ago, so I can't remember which part numbers I used.

Once I measured things, and figured out what strut I needed, only a spacer at the bottom of the shock needed to be machined up and the correct top nut purchased from Koni and I was in business.

Edit: BTW, if you want to raise the spindle on your S strut, find someone to use EDM to burn out the weld, it works perfectly to leave a nice hole for a new weld.

The later strut and ball joint are much stronger for track work and stiff suspension and sticky tires
But it really depends on the condition of the early unit.

If you use a late insert in an early strut you just use the original cap.

Well, lets see, I have the original Boge struts that have been modified by raising the spindle one inch (yes it can be done). I have had the ball joint clamps come loose in the past. Just loose not falling off. I drilled and tapped the clamp for a larger bolt.
I still think that upgrading to newer struts is in my future.

Any one have a set of '72 -'77 knoi struts laying around?

The problem with the nut or "cap" as you call it is my struts don't have them. I have Koni red inserts. There is no cap. The actual insert is threaded (male) and the whole insert screws into the strut. I guess when I find some new struts I'll be able to find the correct cap or nut.

The Koni racing catalog I cited with the .url above has 6 different top nuts shown in 5 metric and 1 Whitworth thread, one of them is probably what you need.

Those are really old inserts you have... all the new ones come with threaded caps. If you need something you don't have let me know...
I tend to collect stuff like that and even know where that particular box is located.

I found some '73 Koni struts on Pelican.

I think I'm set. I've got some '73 Koni struts, some Koni 8641 1039sport externally adjustable inserts, and the ever elusive gland nut 73.25.01.011.1.
Here is my '73 koni strut and the 1039sport insert.

Here is the correct (and obscure) gland nut, 73.25.01.011.1

And assembled...

Strange that Koni tech told me that I would have to replace my struts with Boges in order to run the 1039sport inserts. At paragon's web site these inserts are also listed as for Boges only.

That's interesting, in the list I cited above, that Koni part number 73.25.01.011.1 is the one with the British Whitworth thread .
