fuel injector service for CIS injectors. Anyone know a shop locally that will service fuel injectors from a CIS system? I usually use RC for this stuff but im hoping to use someone locally. Besides, I think RC will only service EFI type injectors. Im thinking a diesel shop would have the know how.

Thanks,

MT

Morgan:

I don't know of a shop servicing the injectors.

Sometimes I have had problems with them not spraying well, wich causes poor running, and failure to pass smog (HC, usually).

I have had success with the following procedure: First, clean them with a cloth and 91% Alcohol - IPA, of course , not this kind :beerchug:

Then, I soak the injectors overnight, tips down, in a jar of Fuel Injector cleaner (the stuff you buy from auto parts stores).

thanks Paul.
Ill try that first. I would really prefer to have them ultrasonically cleaned... its just getting harder to find places to do it. I don't want to ship them off if i don't have to. I have a place back east i have used before, but don't feel like waiting.
They are actually for a BMW with the CIS K-jetronic incection system. So who knows. Ill try what you mentioned and ship them off later if im not happy. I just need them to last 2 months till Im ready to strap on the side draft carbs.

Morgan-
Have you tried:

Advanced Diesel Injection
3134 Main St
San Diego, CA 92113
(619) 232-6452

Not sure if they do ultrasonic cleaning, but they may have a lead for you if they don't.

actually, I spoke with them this afternoon. Ill probablly be using them. They can clean and flow test the injectors. if they dont flow correctly, they cant fix them though. so hopefully they just need cleaning. Worst case ill have to replace a few.

CIS uses mechanical injectors unlike the electric ones on the 944. usually only deisel places service the mechanical injectors. getting tougher to find places to service them.

Found one.

PCE in National City will Clean and Test CIS injectors for $25 per.
If one of your injectors tests bad, they wont charge you for them.
Also, for all you Porsche guys with CIS, WWW.Autohausaz.com sells the Bosch #0437502004 for $28.22
So that might not be worth it for some of you. Mine are a bit more expensive, so ill probably have them cleaned.

I also thought of getting my CIS Injectors in my 928 done, but they were asking about $25 to clean them. I ended up buying new ones at that Autohauz in Arizona for $32.80 each. Seriously wouldn't bother cleaning 30 year old injectors, not worth it.

I miss the CIS K-jet systems. Sooooooo many cars had them. Really easy to work on and easy to fix.
