roof net

Postby kary on Wed Apr 08, 2009 9:23 pm

I have been looking for some good roof netting to put up on the inside of my roof and have been unable to find anything suitable. Anyone know where I can get some appropriate netting to cover the inside of my roof like a window net?

Thanks!

My dad an I installed one on the spec 944 I club race.
We had two window nets sewed together and had straps sewed to all sides, and secured the hole thing to the roll bar just below the roof/sunroof panel.

Dumb question. Why a roof net? Because of the sun roof?

Yes, Im not to sure about other clubs, but to club race with POC a roof net is required for cars with a sunroof panel.
Especially 944's since the sunroof is basically the entire roof. The rare non sunroof 944's would be an execption.
And spec boxsters with there removable hard top's get a roof net and arm restraints.

Even if you have a diagonal bar or X in the upper cage between the A and B pillar?

Yes, for POC Cup racing. The logic is that in a rollover accident the fiberglass panel will be gone quickly and arms could poke out and be seriously injured. A roof net is not required if arm restraints are worn, so there is a choice.
