Dieters downtown is probably best for a 928. Most shops don't want to work on them as even little things like a waterpump can be VERY expensive.

Good luck.

If you're going to do the water pump, you might as well do the timing belt while you're in there, if it hasn't been replaced in 40K miles or more. Having one of those go out can be REALLY expensive.

Who knew that Tom's 911 had a timing belt
Yes, Dieter's has been taking care of my 928's over the years and if the water pump is replaced the timing belt should be part of the service while you are in there.

Forget the timing belt, who knew Tom knew what a waterpump was

Hey now, you guys are forgetting that I owned a 1991 928 for awhile in late 2000, early 2001. I inherited it from my Dad when he died. It had 35,000 original miles on it, and I took it into Steve to get an assessment done on it. $2500 later, I had a new waterpump and timing belt and a couple other minor things fixed. I promptly sold the car to Lee Hurty, who is still happily driving and upgrading it.

My 911s have timing chains, not rubber belts!

I bet I can find my waterpump faster than you can find your oil pump

Does this still count as a technical discussion?

Waterpumps are why my car is soooo fast, it has 2! One for the engine and an extra special secret one for the turbo after shutdown

and I can find them both!

And before the smart a** replies, I took out the windshield washer waterpump to improve airflow to the brakes, so I don't have 3.

Wooow!! I never thought of it that way. My 911 has a water pump in for the windshield wipers!!! I will have to have that removed right way with the other items I already took out!!!!

Kary, kary, kary, so all this time you have been a waterpumper

Come to think of it, my car is partially cooled by oil, maybe we can all just get along.
