So the owners manual is quite particular about using Porsche Brake Fluid.

By Porsche, or by to a specification?

I replaced the brake fluids in all of my cars with "ATE Super Blue Racing". Mainly becasue it's boiling point is over 500 degrees F, this will allow to have brakes for more laps

"buy" not "by", sheessh read your post before you send it...

When I last replaced my brake fluid, the Porsche dealer where I bought the car also put in Super Blue. So if a dealer's service department is doing it, it must be OK.

Interesting - neither Hoehn nor Pioneer would agree to put in anything other than the recommended Porsche fluid in my car. I had to have Black Forest flush and put in ATE Blue.

This was at Motorwerks, in Barrington, IL.

The factory part number fluid is ate 200, this is the same as the ate blue only it is amber in color.

I like to keep both onhand since you can flush on with the other and know when the fluid has been completly flushed.

Though ATE blue exceeds DOT specifications, it is not DOT 4 compliant because of the BLUE dye.

On another note about fluids.
The only Porsche fluid that I have found to be very hard to find is the power steering fluid. Pentosin CHF 11S green dyed synthetic hydraulic fluid. From reading the can it is a standard part number for Porsche, BMW, and Rolls Royce. Pioneers price on this is very reasonable at $18 Liter, while Cunningham BMW wants $32 per liter.
