Batteries and Non-use

A question from the idiot ranks; I will leave my 2007 Carrera in the garage for about 4 weeks and likely the '99 Boxster (as nobody will buy it ;). Both have strong batteries and the question is the rule of thumb as to how long I should be able to leave them without buying a battery tender etc. Thanks.

So why won't anyone buy your Boxster?

A couple reasons I suspect, lack of will on my part (I love the car), and the economy. Had some of bites on my Windblown Witness ads (still there), but no joy, and several from folks from Craigslist who wanted to trade for land in Utah. Wife is starting to lean on me though.

At least it wasn't a bridge in Brooklyn they offered.

Porsche says the battery should last 21 days of non-use.
Locking the car in the garage will turn computers off quicker and make the battery last longer.

But long storage is not good for the battery.
This is about the best charger for the money for your needs.

I was doing a similar search one time and found Amazon has the trickle chargers that I believe are the Porsche OEM trickle charger now (CTEK). This was a topic of conversation on the Rennlist 993 board I know at one point, if you care to search it up.

Here's an OEM to compare to:
Porsche Dual Mode Battery Maintainer / Charger

It looks suspiciously like the CTEK 7002 or 3300

http://www.amazon.com/CTEK-Multi-7002-B ... sim_auto_5
They come w/o the lighter plug in (battery connectors only), but the lighter plug is available:
