2001 Boxster S Catalytic Converter

A friend of mine owns a 2001 Boxster S. He asked me to post his question on the forum. Where can he find a catalytic converter for his car other than through the dealer?

Short answer - if he wants to save money, buy one used either from eBay or from one of the local wrecking yards (Sean @ Autobahn, etc.). If he must have a new one, Sunset Porsche in Oregon sells factory parts at cost+15% (no sales tax, but there is shipping).
What happened to the old one, and which catalytic converter is it (there are 4 on an '01 S, one on each exhaust manifold, and one on each connecting pipe between the exhaust manifold and the muffler)? Also, the left and right manifolds and connecting pipes are different, so make sure you get the correct side...
