Rear Drop Link Question

I am upgrading Tuffy's suspension and going to a 5 position adjustable rear sway. Do these Drop links really make much of a difference in performance, or adjustability? Or are they mainly an "oooo look what I have" item.

Since it is Christmas, Kari is asking me what I want so i am wondering if i should put these on the list? While we are at it, IF they are a good thing, does anybody have a set you want to let go for a reaonable price?

Cheers!
M

If the bar you are getting has bolt holes similar to the OEM bars, then you can use them and they will serve two purposes. First is to remove more 20+ year old rubber from your suspension and second it will provide you with the ability to neutralize or preload the bar. Unless this is done right, usually has more negative consequences than positive though.

Weltmeister bars for example can not use these as there is no bolt hole, it is a clamp around the the bar instead.

You need them change the drop link's length in order to keep the bar in the same relative plane to the spring plate when you adjust the stabilizer bar as well as to eliminate pre-loading of the bar when you sit in the car.

The 944 kit looks so simple that one could make their own using male and female rod ends with washers or other material for spacers.

You will not be able to get 4 "good" Teflon lined NMB or Hirschman rod ends for $69.95 though, making those in the kit probably of low quality which is OK if you watch for wear.
