Where to buy a helmet?

Postby amnons on Tue Jan 18, 2011 10:06 am

Time for me to buy a new (SA-2010) helemt.
(I currently have an M-2000, and I won't be able to use it after June).

I mainly do Ax, occasional DE.
No doubt, one has to try a helmet on before buying.
Is there a place (preferably locally) that carries a decent selection of brands and sizes?
Any other recommendations?

Thanks much,
Amnon

Contact Steve at C2 Motoports. I believe he has some in, as well as some 2005's on sale.

You most likely already bought a helmet, but incase others are looking to get one~

I also went to C2 when I was looking to get a helmet, Steve was incredibly helpful and I tested a few out but none fit me in the $150 range,

I found an SA2010 Pyrotech open face helmet for $130 before tax at Helmetcity.com. I checked for coupon codes online before buying one but they were all expired, if you can't find one online just call them and ask for it (its a 10% discount). They do free 2 day shipping and you can exchange it at no cost (except for shipping).

I'd go to Steve at C2motorsports if I was buying any helmet other than an entry-line open faced.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents about the great service at C2.
Recently I asked Steve to special ordered a Bell helmet and a pair of tinted shields.
I purchased a helmet and 2 visor/shields.
About a month later Steve at C2 and I found one of the Bell visors to be defective.
In a hearbeat Steve removed the month old visor and allowed me to swap/no charge for a lighter tinted version. 8) 8)

C2/Steve is also the best for tire mount and balance too!
I feel a lot safer having an experianced tire guy.
C2 tire work prices are very fair too. :D

C2 has Bell helmets and also a selection of less expensive helmets under $200...

I was looking at the BELL Vortex M2010.

Does anyone know off hand if this will pass Tech Inspection?

Yes, M helmets are allowed at PCA Zone 8.
But some organizations do not allow M (motorcycle) helmets to be used for their events.

All car occupants must wear a Snell approved helmet, which has the current available Snell rating or the one previous Snell rating. Expiring helmets shall be acceptable until June 30 of the year after the new standard. If it is a Snell M rated helmet and the occupant is required to wear a driving suit, then the occupant must also wear a nomex balaclava (headsock). Any other helmet currently approved for PCA Club Racing also qualifies. Evidence of this approval shall be provided by the driver, if necessary; such as a current PCA Club Racing inspection sticker or presentation of the Club Race rules.

Excellent post and quote. Someday I'll be ready and my Euro is inching it's way towards there.

Thanks again for the verification

I am a vintage racer and have an extra Simpson car racing helmet in good shape that I don't need. $65 is a pretty good deal for this full face white helmet. Would rather see someone in the club put it to use. Call Alan at 858 945 8971 if you want it.

A quick up date. At C2 Motorsports we have a ton of helmets in stock. our problems earlier this year with suppliers is settled and we have a style and size for every head in stock.

We might not have the exact style or size you need, but we have enough (about 75 helmets) in stock you can try the style you need and if you want a different color we can order it and usually get it in the shop with in 5 business days.
here is a link to our site helmet department. http://www.theracersstore.com/index.php ... ex&cPath=7

we also have a Bell Sport Patriot helmet in stock (large) and can order one in your size! its an american design with a very patriotic look.
