PCA SDR

As some of you know I'm in the process of dropping my engine/tranny for a new clutch and all the "while you're in there stuff". One of the many projects is to rebuild the fuel injectors and have them cleaned and flow tested. Well, I called BF and they told me they send all their injectors to SD Carb. I stopped by there today and was told the service was $45/injector...at first I was like and then I was like because I almost laughed at the guy. I asked if that was the price he charged BF and he said yes. I asked what he did for his fee and he told me in so many words that he had the only ANSI bench testers in San Diego and that his service did include rebuilding (o-rings, basket, caps, etc.) the units...what that told me was he doesn't have any competition and can charge what he can get away with. I told him his price sounded high and I was sure I could get it done for half that...kind of waiting for him to drop his price...but he said, "sorry, that is what I get for the job". Now, I'm not saying anything bad about SD Carb at all, I'm sure they do great work and the guy I dealt with was very nice and did tell me who not to use; however, that is a rediculous price for some basic work. So, I picked up my injectors and walked out.

I know, what's my point already! Well, I found a place in GA that will do the exact same service for $15/injector. I checked a couple references along with the standard google trash search and all checked out. The place is Fuel Injector Restoration Service. So, for anyone thinking of rebuilding your injectors, just know you have options at a fraction of what one of the local places charges. Hope that helps someone down the road.

RC Engineering also does a great job for $24 with one day turn around. They are out of Torrence.

Thanks for the input Ron. I looked into rc as well; however, what I gathered from their website was that they only cleaned the injectors and did not do any part replacement...I think new o-rings at the very least are a good idea.

They just did my 944 injectors. New hat, o rings, etc. The injectors look brand new and the electrical connectors look new. You might contact them first. $104 for the four including tax and shipping.

That makes more sense but their website wasn't very clear on what they do and don't do for the service. Good to know, thanks Ron. I'll stick with my $15/injector find and see how that goes!

Well based on your "Location" in your avatar I'd say this makes perfect sense! I need to finish my car's diet before I even think about power but thanks for the help spending my money! Enabler....

Ya, for DQ, it's all about helping his clubbies out...

We used RC Engineering for the flow bench testing on the fuel pumps for our Texas Mile bike, and the results were illuminating. It turns out that even the "gold standard" Walbro pumps don't put out anywhere near what the manufacturer claims.
Our fuel injector duty cycle issues turned out not to be what we thought they were.....our lackluster tuning ability.
RC is Russ Collins, a former Top Fuel drag racing world record holder on bikes, he knows what he's doing.

I have used RC several times and they know their stuff.
I have seen lots of issues with uneven injector flow, which can cause big issues at max output. One injector making 20% less fuel rate can make early detonation which will cause knock sensors to come into play early and kill max horsepower if you are lucky; it can hole a piston if you are unlucky.

5-10HP and safer running for $150 on a 911? That's a deal, and you can show all your friends the cool flow rate graph you get back with the injectors.

Another Plus for RC Engineering. Have used them in the past, very good results, fast turn around.

While on the East coast used Marren Injectors, No real difference between RC and Marren, but both are used by many top Club Racers in different series.
