GX2 Data Logger question

Hi,

Paul Young Sr, and Jr, and I installed a unit in Tuffy, we diligently hardwired the the power in belief that it would pick up the tach. Unfortunately we were stumped. The unit works great for speed and laps (around the block) but we are getting nada on the tach. A bit of help on identifying which one of those wires we should tap would be wonderful.

Thanks!
Mark

Specifically, we wired the G2X tachometer input to the green wire from the 924S tach gauge, but no response.

TIA

Steve G wired mine to the DME and it works perfectly. I think it's pin 21 on the DME connector, a green/black wire, but verify with Steve first.

I wired my 944T into the DME as well and it worked great. Look at the wiring diagrams, or better yet, Steve, to learn exactly where to splice it in. The turbo had a RPM out test wire, not sure if the 924 will, but it should be pretty easy to get it working.

Mark

Pin #21 at the DME is usually where I go because a late dash it too hard to access. (green/black)
Your 924S has early, easier to access 3 pod gauges so you can go to pin #6 of the tachometer plug (Green)
The color changes at a 4 pin flat connector just out of the DME. If you fine a white (I believe) flat plastic plug with a green wire on one end and green and black on the other that is your connection.
The other three wire colors match on each side of the plug, unlike the tach signal.

Good Luck

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I was trying to make it more complicated than that.

We'll dig into it after Laguna Seca.

Finally got around to wiring the Tach to the Data Acquisition. Thanks, Steve - the connector is actually red in Mark's car,
but all other details were accurate. Really helpful, and made it really easy! :beerchug:

Thanks again!

Glad to help.
The shift lights are a great feature on the G2X especially when you are right below the rev limiter (hopefully) but a little too busy to check the gauge...

Well, it'll be nice for Mark to get a more complete data picture.

Personally, I REALLY like the Predictive-Lap feature on my IQ3,
which I believe the G2X can do also (with the latest firmware).
