How do I measure or verify that the seats I want to install (Corbeau LG1 or VX2000) will fit. The supplier has brackets that are specific for my car but the seats are just dimensions.posting.php?mode=edit&f=3&p=39622#

Ok the seats I wanted were not fIA approved. I was lucky to find a new set of Sparco EVO II's at C2 motorsports while I was getting the NT-O1's mounted and balanced. After talking with Steve "Dieter's" I have my work cut out for the install. Any tips out there would be appreciated.

Bruce,
Try the Pelican Parts and Rennlist forums for your specific model and the Racing/TT/DE sub-forums. There's a ton of seat install threads there.

Brey Krause makes a number of seat-to-slider or seat-to-floor adapters. Here is what they have listed for 964s:

http://www.bkauto.com/category_s/215.htm

Although I use their seat brackets that adapt to the factory sliders, I eliminated the sliders (and gained some helmet clearance) by replacing the sliders with some custom flat steel bars that connect the side mounts to the factory slider mounting holes in the floor.

Some of the local shops can get Brey Krause, but I've also used http://www.OGRacing.com and http://www.LPIRacing.com (no affiliation, just a satisfied customer). The two online shops also carry the "Planted" seat bases for 74-98 Porsches (which actually look like a pretty good starting point, from the pictures), if you don't want to mess with floor adapter fabrication, but I don't have any experience with these.

One small detail to pay attention to is if you want to retain the factory seat belt latches (say, for street use), you will need to make sure you have a threaded mounting point somewhere on the seat bracket or the seat base to attach them. If neither comes with one, Brey Krause also makes a "bolt-on bracket" to add it.

Hey thanks for all the information. I will take on this task as soon as the car comes back from Dieter's. New rubber and a little suspension first. My next purchase is a set of 5 or 6 point harnesses. This forum and Steve at Dieters have been like having a Lifeguard watch over all the fun I am having.

I am going to install the seats and harness at the same time. I hope I won't have to make too many holes for attachments.
I will take some pictures and let you know how the seats and harness install went.

First things first tires, suspension, track time and smiles.

P.S. Sparco has a slider and base plate w/seat belt attach location for factory belt.
