Where to go for custom ECU tune?????

Postby kleggo on Sun Oct 13, 2013 5:53 pm

Who would I talk to in the SD / OC / LA metro area for a custom dyno tune if I wanted to map an ECU for a forced induction application?
I'd prefer to not use Fabryce and GMG in Santa Ana.

Lotta Subie / EVO guys around, but would prefer to talk to someone either P car friendly or expert or both.

TIA

Craig

For what car/engine/setup? What ECU and software?
Any truly proper mapping takes a piggyback or standalone, an eddy current dyno, and lots of time ($$).
Forced induction engines are very intolerant of the slightest lean condition under boost (the melt NOW), so you want to see 11.5-12.0 AFR under load, but that number is also boost level dependent. Running 4 psi? 12.5 will do. 24 psi? 10.8 burning race gas with a huge intercooler and water/meth injection is more like it. Or run E85, but that's whole different set of questions.
So, what is the setup?

Thanks Mike.

Thanks to you also Dave, but just looking for a tune expert, not really looking to debate plans here on the forum.

cheers

I know a few guys, some are more expert than others on particular ecu's, that's the only reason I was asking "what car, what setup?"

Loren at 911 Design in Montclair does quite a bit of dyno tuning on FI cars with several 800hp+ results. Give him a call.
