997 brake pads

Postby tim997 on Wed Oct 16, 2013 11:42 am

2008 base 997 with 50 to 60% remaining. Will replace after the Nov AX's. Out of warranty so OEM not necessarily required. I am looking for a street/AX pad (not planning DE or TT). Any advice out there? Any gouge on the Cool Carbon product? Thanks.

Why are you replacing them? If the first set lasted 5 years and has over 50% left, why not wait 2-3 years more? Overall, the factory pads are very good at everything. You can get cheaper, or more specialized pads for track use, but there are significant trade-offs. If there is not a problem with the current pads, just watch them and wait until they are worn more would be my suggestion.

Thanks Jad. This issue was brought up to me at the last tech inspection when I was warned to keep an eye on them. I appreciate your advice and will stand down on the issue for a while.
