PCA SDR

Hi - I'm a newbie. I have a 1997 Boxster. I replaced the clutch master cylinder with a new FTE from Pelican Parts. Everything went well until I tried to connect the rod end to the clutch pedal. When the pin is installed, the clutch pedal won't come up far enough to hit the stop (or switch). In other words the master cylinder piston is topping out like the rod is about 1/4" too short. The part numbers match exactly, both FTE. The only difference is the distance in the length of the rod. The old one protrudes from the housing (at full extension) about 3/16" further than the replacement. When installed, the bump on the clutch pedal misses contact with the microswitch by about 1/4" due to the geometry in the pedal, so the pedal return spring is pulling the pedal up and the piston in the MC is topping out at max extension preventing the pedal from hitting the stop or the switch. I cannot find a tech bulletin on this issue anywhere. I talked to Pelican and they said that the part was superseded from a -04 to a -06, but there should be no physical difference. Maybe a defective MC?

Measure the end (face) of the master cylinder to the center of the pivot bolt.
It should measure 80mm.

That should tell you if it a problem with the new master cylinder or not.

It is within 1mm of the original. Maybe I'm over thinking this. There are 2 microswitches on the clutch pedal. One at the bottom for for start lock-out. The other is at the top of travel (pedal all the way out)...what is that switch for? The pedal does not make contact with that switch when the MC is installed. Maybe it's not supposed to?

It turns off the cruise control when you push the clutch in.
It only engages 1/2 the travel of the switch.
I think you might be over thinking it as well.

Put it together and see how it works.

OK - it's all installed and the clutch is bled. The clutch operates flawlessly now, but the pedal never reaches the cruise control switch - misses it by 1/4" - so unless I increase the size of the plastic bump on the pedal arm - no cruise control. Any thoughts?
