996 IMS Bearing Replacement

Postby dcarusillo on Tue Feb 03, 2015 11:12 pm

Uhhh, I got this friend...no, really! :roflmao:
Anyway, was wondering who has done a bearing retrofit and what brand did you use?
Thanks!

My car has the LN ceramic bearing. Avoid using the Pelican outdated instructions for retrofit. Lost set screws and failure to bring the motor to TDC and locking the cams has resulted in a bunch of FUBAR'd motors.

What ever you do, stay away from the Rennlist 996 forum
Way too much drama on the IMSB subject

That being said, from what I have read, the LN ceramic seems to be the best choice

As Dave said, be sure to follow the newer instructions to avoid extra problems

Dan, If you do choose to go to Rennlist to research it that's cool. Just do NOT post any questions there about it because there are already a gazillion posts about it, and they will make fun of you mercilessly for asking yet again. :nono: BTW, Mike recommends that you use The Faultless Tool to install the LN ceramic bearing.

Thanks Guys and Gal!! I agree the subject has been beaten on. I appreciate the personal feedback and your experience. Way more important to me than any other opinion. :beerchug:

+1 for Ryan at RSR. I got the LN replacement when I did the clutch.
