Gang,

Today I stopped by the "new" U FIX IT Automotive business located at 2420 Industry St (Suite C) in Oceanside. Starting with my opinion: this is an opportunity that we HAVE to pursue.

Joel Munoz is the owner. His business model is to do as much as he can do for folks that don't have car lifts at home. Good stuff.

In my opinion, the business model is fragile, but sustainable if, if he can connect with folks like us. My opinion: this is a great opportunity for us. You can rent a lift and change your 911's oil in complete convenience!! What can be bad about that?? Do YOU have a lift in your garage? I don't.

Check out this: http://www.sandiegofixitauto.com

Joel will entertain Tech Sessions...primarily during the week in the evenings. As you might imagine, his weekends are totally booked.

Rates: hourly lift = $20 with a two hour minimum; say $40.. All day daily lift rental: $150.

Now then, honestly...I've been looking at a BendPak scissor lift for my garage that will cost close to $2000. Just how many jobs could I do at Joel's shop for that money?? Duh...lots.

Our '85 Carrera is due for an oil/filter change and my plan is to do it at Joel's shop. Why not?? Doesn't standing tall beat scooting around the garage floor on your back??

Reactions and/or comments???

Oh: I asked him about California and endless liability lawsuits. His answer was that he thought the releases everyone signs would save the day.

Cheers,

Jim

I'm sure some will get great utility out of it.

i was going to take a set of wheels there to R&R tyres, but they did not have the approriate equipment.
yes, i do have a lift in my garage, thank you for asking.

Not surprised. That said, finding their limits will help us all. I'm still planning to give them a try for an oil change, after clarifying exactly the details (old oil recycle and such). Will check in with an update after this happens.
