Does anyone know if a set of 17 x 8.5 et46, 17 x 10 et43 from a Boxster will fit my 1996 993 that has stock 17 x 7 et53, 17 x 9 et53?

Glenn, I could be wrong since it has been a while since I had the stock 993 wheels but I believe the 7" and 9" were both a 55 offset. It should say on the wheel near the valve stem.

As far as the Boxster wheels the best thing to do is to try them. I know I have some BBS wheels that are 8.5" and 10" which have an ET of 45 and 40 (if I recall correctly)and they both require rolling the fenders and quite a bit of camber to avoid rubbing on the fender lips. You need to try them for sure and with the tires you intend to use since each tire has a somewhat different shoulder shape.
