You can buy a cheap converter, and then have a muffler shop cut into the exhaust and make custom connectors on both ends so you can bolt the new converter in. Or at least that is what I did on my 944. Check with current experts to see if it still is legal.

Try All American Muffler in Kearney Mesa.
7849 Raytheon Rd
San Diego, CA 92111
(858) 277-0276

There is a specific cat that it needs and it must be installed a specific way.
Under $500 installed I think. (I think...)

Hi guys...thanks for the input. :D I see that I should have been slightly clearer. This is for my street car, so I'm not looking to have a switch out, or skirt the edge of the rules...just need to pass smog and know the current CAT is useless. I had a new one installed yesterday and am off to give it a shot this morning.

Here's hoping!
Mark

The new Magnaflo CAT went beyond just 'doing the trick'. The numbers all across the board are like a while new car! Gotta give a shout out for Autocross Performance Exhaust, in Lake Elsinore for doing great work, at a fantastic price.
