Apparently, the rumors were true:

Pirelli P-zero Trofeo R are now available in a 245/45/16 fitment... 60 rated.

So, keep the "200" rated Bridgestone RE-71r's in 225/50/16 square, or go back to a proper stagger and eat the points?

Hmmmm...

How's the car handling with the square setup, Charles? If you like it, keep it. If it's too loose, maybe a 245 in the rear is a good solution, especially if you don't care about the points pushing you up a class. I've heard some good things about the Trofeo R but never tried them. Some people say they're pretty sensitive to setup and pressure, can be fast when they're working right, but don't wear particularly well.

I have heard Bridgestone is going to roll out additional sizes this year for the RE-71R, but I don't know when, or if a 245 in 16" is one of them.

YMMV,
TT

Tom,

I'm running the 225's squared on the silver bullet and have found that they are wicked fast and don't add any oversteer (as if I'd notice). Although I'd love to see them come out with a 245, I am planning on running them squared this year in TT's and I'll see how they wear.

Thanks Tom,

Yep, I'm thinking of keeping the RE-71r's and staying in CC-09. Seems to make more sense to stay in CC-09 than to bump into the next class for a couple of mm of tire width and grip. I'm also finding the square setup to be just fine... over-all grip levels are high enough that I'm not having any trouble with oversteer (at least not more than usual in an old-school 911)!

See you at the Q,
Charles
