Cheap paint recommendations?

I want to put a cheap (~$500) paint job on the turbo. Between the rattle can paint and Fontana, the car looks terrible (no peanut gallery comments please :? ).

Anyone have any experience or suggestions for a place like Maaco or Earl Shive or other? I know I won't win any concours, but hopefully I won't have to keep explaining "what happened to your car?"

Thanks.

Check the Sunday paper for the one day paint and body shop coupon that always seems to be wrapped around the tv guide. they do okay work (not great), definately pass the 50 foot/50 mph rule and will come in under 500.

It's black, so Bob Lemke can do it in about 15 seconds

Jad:

Maybe you should talk with Ethan D. about his Franken-Boxter paint job. It's dynamite looking from 15' away, and I think the paint company was "Hecho en Mexico" . I'm pretty sure it wasn't terribly expensive down south.

I haven't looked closesly at the paint work, but it does look good from a couple of feet away.

Just a thought.

Well you MIGHT beat me if I let you paint it, you would probably use heavy lead based paint and put an extra heavy coat on the windshield  , so I think I may have to pass on your generous offer to help

I had my 944 painted at 1-day Paint in National City. They did an ok job, but the results would have been much more satisfying if I removed the quarterglass, bumpers and lights to be honest. Oh and I should have had them do the door jambs because the PO took it to Earl Scheib to get the jambs done and they did a horrible job. I'm still in the process of colorsanding and restoring the jambs too! :x

Sorry, I am basically a vegitarian, so that paint won't work! Plus, after the diet, the car isn't that much of a pig.

David, the MOM's race car should go with the pig paint job!!! That would be cool and you guys would definitely be noticed. I like the purple and blue pyscho paint job the best though from that era.....

You mean the "Hippie" 917 from Martini? One of my favorites, too.

Yes, that is a cool looking paint job even today, considering this was 35 years ago! Some day when I need to paint my car due to accident damage (major) I might paint my car like that!!!
