Boxster (987) Tires?

Postby cag4 on Tue Oct 25, 2016 10:47 am

Hey Folks,

As noted in another thread, the Super Sports on Katrin's 2005 Boxster are shot after the auto-cross, so I owe her new ones. Looking for recommendations.

Sizes are 235/40ZR18 and 265/40ZR18.
This is a 95% street driven daily driver, with only the occasional performance driving event (like when my car is in the shop). So, Hoosiers? :burnout:

I'm tempted to pick up a set of Sumitomo HTRZ III's, which are kind of ridiculously inexpensive at $462 a set from Tirerack. Anyone want to talk me out of it? They are 300TW tires, so she *might* still qualify for SS02, depending on what the rule committee comes up with.

Thanks for any input.

Our son bought those for his 987 05 Boxster for the same reason. He says that they are not the stickiest tire in the world, but they do OK on the track (like Fontana) and last forever.
