Personally I've always been a Chevron guy, including buying Techron additive while living overseas and mailed via APO (as far back as the late 80s)...used in our BMWs and other cars. This goes back 30 years for me. Some months ago an extremely handsome, intelligent, worldly - did I mention worldly? - guy...name I don't recall but his initials were RS America and GT3, both in yellow and black, gave me directions to a Chevron station quite near Qualcomm...another guy that only uses Chevron. But now BMW is pushing Shell. Personally, I'm not thinking of switching to mystery gas from 7-11 or USA or even Valero. But...is Chevron still the cat's meow?? Opinions or guidance please?

what?
"top tier" gas is pretty much "top tier" gas
buy whatever is convenient.

I'd never wait in line for costco gas when arco is just down the street at pretty much the same $$$
arco worked fine on my tuned 997 turbo (as confirmed by data logging analysis).

chevron / arco is my go to, but.......................

if i'm fueling the Ferrari, it has to be shell

The most significant and clearly negative performance additive is ethanol. It is added to gas (10% - 15% concentration range)at most pumps in the USA and can contribute or trigger a variety of combustion maladies. It also makes leaving a car sIt for more than two weeks problematic - it makes the fuel system much more susceptible to problems than a car with ethanol free fuel. Most performance vehicle owners (whether car, motorcycle, or otherwise) that are attuned to how the engine is operating will notice a favorable difference if the car is running on ethanol free fuel.

There are no gas stations offering ethanol free fuel in the Socal region. Try Texas or Oklahoma.

Disclaimer - this post is only based on the metric of efficient energy production from an engine, and longevity of the fuel system components. There are other metrics that explain why ethanol is basically force fed to vehicle owners.

That is true, if you brew your own gas, and don't add the mandatory ethanol, you will get better performance and can enjoy a nice ear of corn. :surr:
